Dear Friend,

Welcome to the November 2010 edition of the Eureka Child Newsletter! Eureka Child is AID India's flagship education initiative. Active in 600 villages across Tamil Nadu and Bihar, the Eureka SuperKidz program benefits more than 30,000 children for the weakest sections of society - by providing innovative learning material and teaching methods.

In this monthly newsletter, we visit to some of the program sites and share with you snippets of how Eureka Child is impacting the communities where it works. For instance, we will meet 3.5 yr old Selvi from a Balwadi in Chinnati village, and 8 yr old Pavithra from Anbil village. The overall feedback from parents, children and community members all points to Eureka Child's positive impact and this continues to inspire us to make this program even better.

The program needs your support more than ever. In fact, we are quite short of our funding needs to be able to continue to impact so many children! In response, a few individual supporters have come forward to create The Eureka SuperKidz 250 Village Fund (see below for more details). This fund will match your donations dollar for dollar until we are able to raise enough to support 250 villages. We hope that this giving season, you will choose to leverage your contributions through this fund and thereby double your impact.

Warm Regards,

The Eureka Child Program Team.

Eureka 250 Village Challenge Fund
 250 Village Eureka Education Fund

In recognition of Eureka SuperKidz programs high impact on the children it touches, a few generous donors have pooled together a matching fund of $125k. The fund available till 31 Dec 2010 will match each donation $ for $ until it is exhausted and we reach our target of 250 villages. For more information and to donate, please follow this link. The matching fund doubles your contribution and enables you to "adopt" a Eureka SuperKidz Center for $500! Should you decide to support at this or higher level, a specific village(s) will be allocated to you. To facilitate frequent and detailed information exchange between you, the donor, and the communities you support, the Eureka Child team will set up the following:
  • To keep you always updated on the latest progress reports, we will create a dedicated website for your district. You can share this site with your friends and supporters. Follow this link or click on the image to right to visit the web portal.
  • Our project managers will update the site every week with weekly field updates and photos from the project.
  • Every month, we will also upload a detailed monthly progress report on the website. These reports will include monthly performance indicators by village. At the end of the year, we will also provide an annual learning assessment report that looks at children's performance and areas for improvement.
  • We also encourage donors to visit their villages and contribute in other creative ways to their children's education. Site visits and such contributions can also be shared on the site.
We hope you will take a moment this giving season to generously support the children like 3.5 yr old Selvi and 8 yr old Pavithra so that they are better prepared for their future.
